Abstract (English):: The objective of the study was to compare the effectiveness of three different treatments in glycemic control on patients with prediabetic diagnose: (group 1: 15 mg of oral pioglitazone every day, and a change in the lifestyle, group 2 : 850 mg of metformin every day and a change in the patient's lifestyle, group 3: change in the patient's lifestyle). A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted with patients adscribed to ISSSTE's Family Medicine Clinic "Dr. Ignacio Chavez" in Mexico City. The following statistical tests were used: student t test of related samples, Wilcoxon, Kruskall-Wallis, and Mann-Whitney. All of them with a significance level of 0.05.Statistical Program SPSS V 22. One hundred and fourteen patients were included. Regarding glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), significant statistical differences were found between first and second measurements. (p < 0.001 for all groups). Same for serum glucose (p < 0.001 for the three groups). This is the first study for Mexican population with positive results of three therapeutic options for the prediabetic control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
