Abstract (English):: The article highlights the relations among the Slovene and broader Yugoslav political leaderships with the Cabinet of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (the UN) through a correspondence kept in the fond of Javier Perez de Cuellar. The UN, which became involved in the developments in Yugoslavia relatively late, was promptly being informed and asked to intervene throughout the independence process by the diplomats of the newly independent republics. Contrary to the expectations, however, the UN, under the leadership of de Cuellar, took over a more visible role in the process of disintegration rather late. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
