The purpose of this exploratory and descriptive study was to explore the awareness, perceived competence, and application of an emerging framework to guide neuroscience research among professional counselors (N= 358). The results indicated that most counselors had not heard of, were not implementing, and perceived themselves as very unprepared to use the RDoC framework. The implications for counselor identity, training, practice, research, and advocacy are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
