Abstract (English):
-
This paper discusses Utako Hayashi's relationship with the Osaka Women's Home, especially her practices and ideas, as a part of a study on her life (1864-1946). While serving at the social welfare facility called Hakuaisha, Hayashi was involved in establishing the Japan Christian Women's Association Osaka Branch in 1899 and then created the Osaka Women's Home in May 1907. This facility started with a employment placement program, but gradually it provided support for women's livelihood problems overall. This study uses many historical documents prior to World War II and examines the establishment, management, and transition of the Osaka Women's Home, which was an important service in the life of Utako Hayashi.
