A total of 19 individuals of Enchytraeidae (clitella- Oligochaeta) were collected from Tigris River sediment during October and November 2019. Molecular analysis techniques were applied to identify the specimens by amplifying the conserved 18s rRNA encoding gene using universal forward primer ITS1 (5'-TCCGTAGGTGAACCTGCGG-3') and reverse primer ITS4 (5'-TCCTCCGCTTATTGATATGC-3'). These sequences were analyzed using genius software (BLAST), to compare with other stored species of sequences from Gen Bank database. The BLAST results indicated that the query sequence was 96.13% identical to Hemifridericia parva. The genus was considered as new record for Iraqi fauna. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
