Abstract (English):
Since the chip segmentation frequency in cutting processes is directly related to the residual stress state of the workpiece, it is an important parameter in cutting processes. In previous methods, the Fourier transform is mainly used to estimate the chip segmentation frequency using structure-borne sound signals in the orthogonal cut, which is unsuitable for the strongly non-harmonic signals occurring in external longitudinal turning. A method is presented which determines the periodicity of the structure-borne sound signals in the time domain and estimates the chip segmentation frequency from it. For this purpose, time-variant features are presented which approximate the segmentation frequency. Afterwards, the method is compared with methods used in orthogonal cutting. It can be shown that the method presented here is basically more robust against disturbing influences, but there is still potential for improvement in the features. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
