Abstract (English):
-
4818 cases with extracranial malignancies were found among 24305 consecutive autopsies. Metastases in the central nervous system were present in 396 cases, 48.2% originating from bronchial carcinomas. Reasons accounting for this high percentage are discussed. The data were evaluated with respect to the incidence of brain metastases in various types of malignant growths. Cancers of lungs, breast and kidneys are ranging first with lung cancers predominating during recent years. Beyond the age of 50 the incidence of brain metastases is significantly declining.
