This paper discusses the role of emotion in the readers' adhesion to the communication contract proposed by journalism. As empirical object, we analyse comments left by the readers in the page that Veja holds on Facebook. The analysis indicates that the reader moves from higher to lower adherence, along an axis marked by seven primary emotions: satisfaction, surprise, sadness, fear, contempt, anger and disgust. In varied degrees, these emotions bind the reader to the journalism, the vehicle and the other readers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
