'Right of primacy': centrality and protagonism in Sud-America newspaper (1888-90) Notes towards a complete edition of Lucio V. Mansilla’s Causeries

Which one is the complete corpus of Lucio V. Mansilla’s Causeries? How does its rise and consolidation take place in Sud-America newspaper? What does the advertising device that surrounds them consist of and how does it work? What is the role of Mansilla as a regular contributor to the newspaper? In what ways the causeries relate to their immediate context? To what extent are they different from other texts published by Mansilla in the same newspaper? What factors determine its unexpected end? Taking as a base the archive work done with the publications appeared in the Sud-America newspaper between 1888-1890, as well as the study of the Causeries in its context of original production, the present work intends to begin to answer some of these questions, of necessary understanding to undertake a detailed study that could lead to a complete edition of the celebrated Causeries by Lucio V. Mansilla.
