These two letters, from early church members, document the church's early history. The note from Elizabeth O. Garrett was written to the Reverend S.B. Turrentine in 1902, when Garrett was 78. She reminisces about his profession of faith at a camp meeting (age 14), noting that Joshua Bethel preached from the text, Matthew 11; 28-30. Garrett's family moved into Greensboro and joined the Methodist church on South Elm in 1844. Mrs. Ella B. Troy's 1902 letter to Mr. W. H. Alderman reflects on her early life in the church, including being received into it by the Rev. William Bobbitt in 1855.
