At the request of the Board of Education of the City of Passaic, New Jersey, the Bureau of Education recently made a comprehensive study of the problem of adult education in that city. The findings of this study are discussed in this bulletin. Since Passaic has a very large foreign population and a very large percentage of illiteracy, third among the cities of the United States in this respect according to the census of 1910, this report will be of value to all persons interested in the problems of Americanization and the teaching of illiterates. Individual sections contain footnotes. (Contains 1 map, 3 tables and 6 charts.) [Best copy available has been provided.]
