Sub-Saharan Africa trails other regions in the realm of key human development indicators, produces less than 1 percent of the global research output despite having 12.5 percent of the global population. If the region is to improve on its human capital development indicators, it must embrace action research in addressing the many developmental challenges facing it. The purpose of the study was to examine human capital development as a requisite for organizational performance in private universities in Kenya. The research question was how does human capital affect organization performance in private universities in Kenya? This was a correlational study which adopted a positivist research philosophy. The study population comprised of all the 17 private universities in Kenya accredited by Commission of University Education. ? c?nsus t?chniqu? w?s used in the study with frequency distributions, percentages ?nd m??ns w?r? us?d in d?scriptiv? st?tistic?l ?n?lysis whil?, corr?l?tions ?nd r?gr?ssion ?n?lysis w?r? us?d for inferential st?tistics. The study found that hum?n c?pit?l d?v?lopm?nt ?xpl?in?d ? signific?nt proportion of v?ri?nc? in org?niz?tion?l p?rform?nc?, R [superscript 2]= 0.515. Hum?n c?pit?l d?v?lopm?nt signific?ntly pr?dict?d org?niz?tion?l p?rform?nc?, [beta] =0.718, t(122) = 11.336, p = 0.000. Th? study concluded th?t th?r? w?s ? signific?nt relationship b?tw??n human capital development and org?niz?tion?l p?rform?nc? the dependent variable.
