IDENTITY THEFT: IRS Needs to Strengthen Taxpayer Authentication Efforts.

The article presents the study of the government agency the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the need for the regulator the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to strengthen its taxpayer authentication process. The topics discussed include the efforts of the IRS in improving and monitoring taxpayer authentication and how the IRS can benefit from having dependable preventive controls in identity theft.
