This article explores conceptions of home and place in the history of the Oneida Indians. The author focuses on Wisconsin Oneidas and their historical transition from land in New York. The participation of the New York Oneidas, the Thames Oneidas, and the Wisconsin Oneidas are discussed in the context of political activism regarding land claims and the author describes how political activism is structured within the community.
