If Braylon Edwards accomplished nothing else last week, he demonstrated how the public apology has become a charade. We've seen these -- the auction-block news conferences where a player or sometimes a coach (rarely an owner) reads a prepared statement expressing deep regret, then spends 15 minutes with reporters explaining how he's really not that sorry after all.
