The article presents a profile of the Monash Country Lines Archive (MCLA), an archive tool which uses three-dimensional (3-D) animation technology to capture the songlines of indigenous Australian landscapes. According to the article, the MCLA provides indigenous groups with a way of recording their histories, including native languages, dances, and kinship laws, for preservation and to be passed on to future generations in a way that was previously only available through oral histories. The application of the program to preserve the language of the Yanyuwa people is noted and comments are provided by Monash University professors and MCLA project contributers John Bradley, Tom Chandler, and Michael Lim.
