Asia, the planet’s largest continent, occupies over 30 percent of the planet’s land area. Much of Asia is surrounded by oceans—the Pacific to the east, the Arctic to the north, and the Indian to the south. Europe makes up its western border, while a sliver of Africa borders it along the Red Sea and Suez Canal.
