Chile is a narrow, long country (4,200 kilometers) located on the southwestern coast of South America. It is bordered by neighboring countries Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru. The climate varies from temperate to desert-like conditions in the north, and cooler weather in the south. Chile is well known around the world for its exports of fruit, wine, and copper. The government is a democratic republic where presidents are nationally elected. The people in Chile are known as Chileans.
