Unemployment rates are one of the strongest indicators of the economic health of a nation. A person is considered unemployed when they are without a job yet actively seeking paid employment. When large numbers of a country’s workforce become unemployed, both they and employed workers who are afraid of losing their own jobs become afraid to spend money.
